interested in climbing a mount for the first time, anyone have some tips

somewhere not that far from Long Beach CA and a lil challenging keep in mind it is my first time, what do you guys recommend, where do l start

Start by Backpacking somewhere into the wilderness & back. You will find that a backpack needs to be adjusted to ur body type. You will also find what is really needed & what is not. There r trails all over. l do not know where u r from but l bet there is a trail somewhere near you.. l just came back from my first backpacking trip (Labor Day weekend). We packed only 6 miles & my shoulders were hurting & my legs cramped at camp Two nights. Had a great time & will do it again but my pack will have better supplies & be adjusted better.

See if you can walk up Signal Hill first before you tackle a mountain.
