Editorials usually involve option, ethics, or social impact.
The only rock climbing topics that l know of that would qualify would be those of access (crossing public land or private land to get to a climb) or environmental impact. It looks like u r not interested in access, so maybe environmental impact might work.
It is no secret that one of the most debated areas in climbing is the use of bolts for protection. Bolts r permanently installed in drilled holes in the rock - this is an article that discusses some of the safety (pro) & the aesthetics (con) of bolting:
