The Risks/dangers of getting injured.
Costs, the fact there are not that many rock climbing facility is so it make take a while to drive to one.
You need a lot of supervision from an expert

Access and or route setting is sometimes a problem. As Is route finding on rarely done routes. Or rock fall, or belay system failure, or ego is of climbing partners, or dating climbing partners. Oh the troubles we can find it a sport with so much passion and risk in it.

Was this a Test? l may have been a little fresh, but a thumbs down for me and the person who gave the first answer? What gives?

Do u mean what is a drawback to rock climbing?

[ l just ask that as a 'problem' in rock climbing terminology refers to how to do a particular sequence of moves on a particular area of rock]

Hah yeah the most annoying thing is when u live reeeeally far away from rock & indoor rock climbing centres, because it adds on an extra few hours to ur day just driving to & from.

Danger etc. r not really a 'problem', because they're an integral part of the rock climbing..

Another drawback for beginners is that it costs a lot to buy ur own equipment (e.g. harness, rock boots, belay device & chalk would take u well over £100) (advanced equipment is even more expensive, a rope is £100 on its own, metalwork is very expensive too).
Also it is not a sport u can get just get into on ur own, apart from 'bouldering', as u need a friend who knows what they're doing to teach u 'the ropes', as it were, so that u can do high routes safely.

Another problem, guidebooks can be inaccurate or out-of-date. seldom used routes can get overgrown & messy & protection rusts. oft-used routes can get polished & nasty & protection wears. nesting restrictions can stop u climbing in some areas, as can nasty landowners.

hope that helps!

question is kinda vague.
problems with routes - abandoned equipment, shoddy fixed anchors, grime on handholds
environmental - litterbug climbers, white chalk vs. environmentally friendly chalk, disturbing bird nests & wasp/bee hideouts in the deep cracks
risks - good training & use of equipment, trusty belay partner, overestimating ur abilities & getting stuck on a route
access - some good climbing areas on private property, long hikes to reach routes, good boulder spots hogged up by some people

Access is a big problem.

Also - lawmakers overreacting to rescues of climbers (not just rock climbers) covered in the media and passing silly laws.

The biggest social problems involved with rock climbing are:
1) Access (crossing others property to get to climbing areas)
2) Impact (leaving visible chalk on rock faces and scaring birds who nest on high cliffs)

You can get a lot of information about climbing and its impact and problems from the Access Fund:

Good Luck
