Yes that is trespassing. Even if the house is empty, it could be for sale, an empty rental, in forclosure or bank owned - it belongs to someone, so you could get in trouble.

OK if you really want to get on their roof do it. You need a latter unless you have a nother method of getting up the roof. Just do it in the back yard not the front. Mke sure no one is home and do not get hurt. Also make it quick.

Actually, in Ontario it is illegal to stand on any roof without being properly roped in. l always thought that was a stupid law if it is yer own place! Although 2 days ago by buddy is dad fell off the roof and babdly broke his wrist, so ya. careful. Also, it you use a ladder be sure not to damage the eavestroughs, put a piece of 2x4 in the gutters behind the ladder.

It might be a form of squatting, which is illegal. l would not try it.

Most definitely yes.it is private property and is owned by someone else, regardless if no one is living there.

Do you want to get arrested for trespassing or be suspected of breaking and entering, etc.? Try explaining to the police, ''Well. l just wanted to get on the roof''.

Right.

If you are on private property other than your own, and you do not have permission to be there you are trespassing. End of story. There are a few exceptions, but just chillin on someone is roof is not one. Roofs and shingles are easily damaged, you could easily land yourself some restitution fines.
