So ive got to climb up the water tower in my town. It is my graduating year and I've got something planned. So anyway this ladder is REALLY high, with no safety cage around it. What is the safest way of climbing it.(if there is one)
Maybe l should just wrap my arms around the ladder so l will be always be holding on?

if u fall ur gonna die or get seriesly injured. Do what everyone does. dont look down

safety harness double lanyard 100% tie off meaning before you unhook one the other must be hooked. dont mess with it

l do not understand the question (something planned?), but make sure u r safe when climbing any ladder over 30ft. Most fixed ladders over 30ft without a cage will have a ladder safety device.

Safety cable - u need special equipment to use this

Safety bar - usually a bar next to the ladder which is attached about every 10 - 20 feet. You wear a harness & use two runners each with a carabiner & they slide up as u climb. Both biners r attached to the safety device & when u reach the safety point u unclip one & move it above, then u move the other above. This is a good time to rest. At all times, at least one is attached. If u fall, u will only fall to the last safety point - but u could still get hurt.

If it is old & does not have a safety device, u can use the harness & two runners - but u will have to clip to every few ladder rungs moving them up every couple of feet. This is difficult & time consuming but still safe.

You could use a harness and daisy chains with some carabiners and clip in every rung. but this would take forever. Plus if you have no gear or if you dont climb its not gonna be easy. l would say dont climb it, think is it really worth it.

The key to climbing any ladder is to always maintain 3 points of contact.
