Sure, there have been accidents with everything. Has there ever been any accidents on treadmills? Or bikes? Rock climbing involves leaving the ground, & no humans is really meant to be far off the ground, & this causes potential threats. When bouldering, climbing with out a rope for less that 15 feet, u can land on the floor wrong, or u may not use a crash pad, & then, *poof* broken elbow. That happened to someone on my team. Every sport has risks, but indoor rock climbing has very minimal risks if u do it right.

Of course there have been accidents on artificial rock climbing, which l assume is indoor climbing.

I've been dropped 25 feet on an indoor climb, but did not have any significant injury. The person who dropped me tried to catch the rope, though, & got second & third degree burns on her hands.

Any activity has some measure of risk. There r plenty of safety precautions in place, but those only work ''most'' of the time. Usually they're good enough, but sometimes people make mistakes. It is part of being human. Do not let that deter u from trying climbing though.

Hell yes! l would think 99% of them are caused by a mistake made by the climbers or gym operators, rather than failed gear. Failed gear is extremely rare in climbing, and especially indoors.

There are most likely more accidents on artificial climbing walls than there are on natural rock nowadays simply because of the proliferation of climbing walls. They're everywhere.gyms, grade-schools, cruise-ships, fun parks.everywhere.

Except for the serious ones, climbing-wall climbers, l think, pay less attention to what they are doing or might try a move because there is less sense of fear or serious injury.

I'd say so, some of these walls are very high, l like to just boulder at the climbing wall. You never know who installed the chains or the 'auto belay devices' The first few times l used one of those yokes l nearly shit my pants, letting go of the wall knowing no one is holding the rope is scary.

Yes. Though there tend to be fewer accidents in gyms (and less severe), accidents happen. Whenever humans are involved, human error is also involved. I've been lucky and have not broken anything so far, but I've come close - most of my climbing buddies have had a minor accident at some point in their climbing career.

As safe as gym climbing may seem, all types of climbing carry inherent risks.
