Not much help so far, l will tell u what works for me.

If u r actually doing technical rock climbing (with safety gear / ropes) & using ur hands to climb, the only practical type of glove r the fingerless kind. l have climbed in snow storms with my wind-proof fleece fingerless gloves & they really helped keep my hands warm (except for the fingertips of course).

Mine r these wind-proof fleece with the fingers clipped off:

Or u can go leather:

When ice climbing with tools, u can wear full gloves (waterproof / GoreTex of course), but regular rock climbing requires the friction of ur fingers on the rock.

l do carry a pair of North Face GoreTex gloves in my pack - the non-insulated kind that r 100% waterproof in case of emergency.

Good Luck

Black diamond do a pair of windstopper gloves that are nice and thin and only cost about €15. They can be used as inners too, and have a nice bit of leather on the palm that is great for when belaying. l was using them on Alpine multi pitch climbing in Switzerland last summer, kicked ass. Nice and thin so they do not mess up your grip on stuff that is a little crimpy. Great when there is a cold wind, or the rock is freezing.
