l believe the climbers consider it one and the gear is sold in sporting goods stores, so l would say it is, like most outdoor activities are

l think so. l rock climb and think it is fun, takes practice, and is a work out. Those are all things that have to do with sports so l think it qualifies haha

Heck yeah! Rock climbing is a sport that requires endurance, strength and the ability to solve puzzles (what you're climbing is basically a big puzzle). l suggest you try it before you judge it.

l do not care what anyone says. it is a sport.

Rock climbing is a sport. l participate in competitions that go on to nationals, and world championships. The sport requires loads of practice, and good technique. You can not just pick it up, it takes years to become somewhat good. There is strength, technique, smarts, balance, and good footwork to excel in this sport. Yup, totally a sport.

If golf is considered a sport then for sure climbing is.

Not as a competitive team sport, but there r competitions worldwide - some r analogous to a world championship if u will. There r corporate sponsors like Mammut, Petzl, & Black Diamond for many climbers, & there r professionals climbers (this includes everyone from sponsored climbers to expedition guides). Much of the gear is sold in sporting goods stores, & one type of climbing is even labeled ''Sport Climbing'' (though in slightly different context). Rock climbing is not like Hockey or Football, but it is comparable to whitewater kayaking, paintball, & cycling - all r extreme sports which focus on the individual rather than the team(or mostly, paintball & cycling can be either individual or team), all have sponsors & competitions across the globe. So really l guess it depends on ur personal definition of a ''Sport''.
