I've had to climb out of 2 or 3 after cliff falls. They really do
slow people down who are only passing through.

I've got 2 acres of 100' trees. How do you get into the canopy? Do you sling a line and then pull up a rope? l am not interested in using the climbing spurs since it damages the trees.

Yup, all the time. It is a pastime as well as part of my job.

For the person that asked how u gain access to the canopy: You do indeed put a line in the tree. There is several options on what to do after that, but l tie my saddle (basically a beefier climbing harness) into the running end of the line & then tie a climbing hitch to the standing end with a prusik cord that is also clipped to my saddle. l can then ascend by either body thrusting up the tree, or by using a neat little device from Petzl called a Pantin. It is an ascender that goes on ur right foot. it is something like climbing a ladder after that. Once l am in the canopy l just scramble around, making sure to not let too much slack build in my line.
l only ever use spurs if l am going to be removing the tree. They do cause lots of damage.

No not me. But l was walking through a park once and saw a guy climb up this amazingly huge tree. It was fascinating at the speed in which he climbed up. Instead of continuing on my walk l sat down and watched In amazement. Was very entertaining.
