I am just wondering

This is how a climbing pulley works: open one side, pass the rope through, close the side, & then connect it to an anchor using a carabiner. There r also light weight pulleys which r just a little wheel that u put on a regular carabiner to lower the friction of the rope passing through it.

Normally, we do not use pulleys for regular climbing. We just pass the rope through a couple of locking carabiners clipped to bolted (or trad) achors when we get to the top of a single pitch climb & the belayer then lowers the climber.

l have only seen a pulley used twice for rock climbing - once was for a rescue of an injured climber & the other was to lift a 150+ pound big wall bag for a team of climbers that were spending several days hanging off of a big wall. It is easier to run the rope through a pulley & pull down with ur weight that to pull the rope up.
