I am wondering if Homemade chalk can be good for rock climbing. Please provide recipes. As well is there a difference between homemade chalk and rock climbing chalk

You're better off to buy Metolius chaulk or Flash chaulk then add some baking soda (drying agent).

I've used the chaulk that Tahoe T is promoting and l do not like it. the Metolius chaulk works much better.

l guess u could try to make ur own chalk, buy why bother when u can buy 2 1/2 pounds of climbing chalk for only 9.98 from Mountain Gear:

This stuff is super fine & works best in a chalk ball (which l always use to prevent spills & use less). l bought this two years ago & still have not used half of it. Mine came in 5 bags of a half pound each. To answer ur question, some climing chalk has drying agents in it, but the best stuff is just pure magnesium carbonate chalk:

l would not bother with home made chalk. l have only ever seen one person who had it and it really isnt very good.
chalk balls work fine if you ask me. making it sounds confusing!:P
