i'm not putting down people that like to do this in any way it is just for a geography project that i'm doing. l was wondering what it is about walking in the lake district that people like? and also if you know anything about any of the other physical or human attractions, or benefits and disadvantages brought by tourists it would be very much appreciated if you could tell me. thanks so much xx l really wanna do well in this project - its an assessment. x

The pure pleasure of getting away from the traffic,stretching your legs,having the challenge of following a osmap,getting to the top,breathing the fresh air,and finally gazing at the well earned view in the company of like minded people
(It is not often you come across lager louts and boy racers on mountain tops).

l often think the same thing when out in the driving rain, unable to see anything of a view for the thick cloud cover, 'why do l like doing this?'..

Fresh air
The views
The challenge of walking or climbing the fells
The exercise
Not being crowded by people
Meeting friendly people as u go
The relaxation & quiet
The challenge of finding ur way
Being able to survive the elements
Spending time with friends / family without the TV, shops, other people getting in the way



The benefits brought by tourists might include
Financial benefits to the area - jobs, etc.
Improved transport infrastructure (roads, busses etc)
Keeping busineses going
