Well, I've had this crazy urge to learn how to jump from heights. This includes the whole roll-to-avoid-injury thing, I am sure you know what I am talking about, it is in movies all the time. :P

Anyway, l did some physics and found out that my window is 15 feet off ground level. If l jumped, straight down, do you think it'd hurt?
I am pretty sure that if l hung off the sill and then let go, it'd be a lot easier.

Well, My sister fell off a 12 foot platform & broke her neck. l would say u can get hurt. People who fall from just walking can get hurt.
There r bone that get broke all the time.

l would take courses if l were you. They do have stunt men who do that sort of thing in the movies, but they r well trained & they have safety devices that u can not see behind the scenes.

l would get a trampoline & jump on that for now. Just be safe & do not try anything crazy on it.

ever thought about starting a lil lower and working ur way up im no professionla but id say if u dont land right from 15 feet u could look at a broken ankle leg arm landing is everything so practice ur shit before u do it and id say it could be done

It all depends how u land. I've been told by my physics prof. (who used to be a ranger in the army) that when they jumped out of a plane, the force they hit the ground at was like jumping out of a 3 story building. Keep in mind, they'd have to fall to the ground pretty fast or else they'd be like floating ducks in the air & easily be shot at. l think he said the best way to land is knees bent & roll side ways so ur entire body absorbs the impact & not just ur ankles. Break a leg! (jk)

You stand a good chance of breaking something more or less sprains and muscle tears. If you hang off the sill you will be cutting about 5 feet from the drop so you will damage less of your body. Bottom line it is going to hurt and if you land wrong it could cripple or kill you. l wouldn't. But if you insist I'd recommend some gymnastics training so you can learn how to land correctly.

Let is get some physics & anatomy involved. Unless u take great pains in learning the proper way to have ur body absorb & re-direct the impact, u WILL get hurt. Let is first take a look at u hanging from ur window sill & dropping. l am going to make the assumption u r between 5 & 6 feet tall. This means ur feet will fall between 8 & 9 feet straight down. When u land, all the weight of ur body PLUS the kinetic energy created by the fall, will first hit the small bones of ur feet & the ankle joint. This will most likely cause small fractures & ligament damage at best. At worst, ur ankle will break & roll over as the bones in ur leg bust thru the skin (compound fracture). Furthermore, the sudden stop will cause the weight that is ur head to try & continue to the ground, but ur spine will compress to keep this from happening. This has the chance of rupturing a spinal disc or possible breaking ur back. The rest of the injuries will just be superficial in nature compared to the injuries so far.

Now, if u jump forward from ur window, ur feet will only fall 15 feet, but ur head will fall from 20 feet or more & the weight of ur torso will be falling around 18 feet. You will most likely land leaning more forward, so the head wo not have the spine to tear apart so much, but the feet, ankles, & knees will take the brunt of the damage. You will then fall forward, most likely putting ur hands out causing damage to the wrists & shoulders & then ur head will bounce off the ground.

Summary?: Do not do it! It is stupid to do without months, if not years of proper training.

15 feet is more or less the size of the legal limit of bouldering walls in Britain so it isnt that high compared to most actaul walls. but they have mats whereas yur garden probably doesnt. you wouldnt die but l dont recomend it.

Why would anyone want to jump out of a perfectly good window? And Yes, unless you are a trained and learnerd professional who is experienced in low impact landings, then you will get hurt! l broke my patella and my wrist when l slipped of a ladder. l was only 12 feet off the ground.

All the above clearly have little practical experience n actually leaving the computer. Just do it, the worst that can happen is you die, right?

l have jumped off of my roof which is 12 fee at the low part & 15 at the peak.
when u hit let ur knees bend so that ur butt almost touches the ground. be careful not to hit ur face with ur knee & not to let ur ''neeners'' hit the ground. both hurt like all get out.
l do not know how fit u are, but u only live once.
to be smart, search for parkour videos on youtube or through . they have lots of falling & jumping tutorials.
Also start small jump off a car or truck bed or low wall.
