I'd like to climb Pike's Peak. Is the Barr Trail the best route. Is it the only one?

I am going to climb the peak next summer. I will be 57 yrs. I am thinking of walking to the Barr camp on day 1 and on day 2 leaving early enough to climb up and back.I've read that l should be below the tree line by1pm. l met a young man from the area a while back and he told me the Boy Scouts walk it for a merit badge. Do the hike the Barr trail, or is there another route?

l went to Pike is through the Barr trail. l thought it was a very scenic and interesting route. You should go that way if you think you can. It was moderately challenging but not the hardest thing l have ever done.

Plus if the Boy Scouts can do it, why can not you?

The Barr Trail is the most common route up the mountain, but there are others.

Albatross Cafe: ''.if the Boy Scouts can do it, why can not you?'' You've never hiked with 15-16 year olds, have you? They carry 60 pounds packs, hike at 5 mph (fully loaded), and jump (fully load) off of rocks. It really destroys your self-esteem. And hurts to watch.
