YES. You can type in google search ''climbing burn calories'' or ''calculator climbing burn calories'' & a host of sites will come up that allow u to enter the amount of time & way in which u r climbing, & it will tell u the amount of calories u will burn.
If you're trying to lose weight, it is much simpler than the world would have u believe: burn = consume. What u take in u must expel, so either take in less or burn less or do both for quick weight loss & increased muscle. It is about self-motivation & initiative more than the exercise or food, etc. PS- everything burns calories, even lying down, breathing. You generally burn at least 1400 calories each day to live (depending on ur weight, height, age & muscle tone of course).

Yes it does. It takes all the muscles in your body to make it so you can climb. And alot of energry. So therefore you burn a lot of calories.

Naw, l got all fat and stuff from rock climbing. Seriously, why ask this question? You want to lose weight? Do not eat so much crap food, and go running. Nothing works better than running to burn calories. l am sick of people always asking if climbing or cycling or backpacking or kayaking burns calories. Is not just participating enough? Why does everything have to be about calories? If you are thinking of taking up rock climbing just to burn calories, DON''T.

Yes Rock Climbing will burn calories. Due to the fact that it is a full body exercise it burns more calories than many activities. Not as much as running at a strong pace or cycling, but it can be a little more accessible than cycling do to the cash required for a decent bike & a little less intimidating from the get go as running. It is also a fun sport & is sometimes viewed as on of the most exciting exercises.
At a weight of 175 lbs., climbing for 60 minutes will burn aprox. 875 calories. The heavier u r the more calories will be burned. As always pair ur exercises with good nutrition for best results.
