Is the last part of the hike really that bad (the cables)?We are supposed to go tomorrow, and they JUST opened the cables so there will be lots of people.

so they but the cables up.cool. They were down last week when we did snake dike. We hand over handed our way down. Not to bad ( l would not want to fall). Gloves would of been nice! It is just a long walk.9am till midnight.

My family hiked Half Dome last year. My brother, sister, dad, & l all made it to the top. My mom stopped earlier at the top of Nevada Falls. Personally, l think that the part right before the cables with the really steep steps & dropoffs was just as hard as the cables. If u can make it past that part, u should be fine to go up the cables. When the cables first come in view, it looks insane. It looks a lot worse than it is, though. When u get right to the base of the cables u will notice it isnt as horrible as it looked. It was still pretty hard going up that part, but so many people make it every day. We all made it & r still alive. Hope u have fun on ur trip!
