Take some beef jerky, in case you get a chance to mess with Sasquatch.

Stuff that is easy to carry & prepare.

For breakfast l usually take instant mash potatoes (lots of carbs!) or instant oatmeal.

For the trail - trail mix (with lots of M&Ms!), granola bars, jerky, those Gu gel packs (maltodextrin), & my new favorite.Jelly Belly Sport Beans (mmmm..).

For dinner - some noodle dishes (ramen or some Lipton noodle thing) or a dehydrated meal (but these can be spendy).

MREs stink for mountaineering. They r heavy & have a LOT of trash associated with them (everything is individually wrapped). l realize that they taste better than when l was in the service, but they really r not appropriate for hiking, backpacking, & mountaineering. There r appropriate (maybe) for car camping.

Go to your local army surplus store and get some MRE is They work great. Try to get the ones in the white plastic they taste the best but the brown ones will work too.

High protien, high fat, high carbo. Seriously.
You will be using lot is & lot is of energy. You will want to keep hydrated extremelly well first off, then make sure to snack on high energy foods throught the day between meals.
Bring freeze dried or low weight foods. l am not a huge fan of pre packaged freeze dried meals, but thet r popular & easy to get. l like making my own meals from bulf food bins at co-ops or health food stores.
You will want ''clean fuel'' so to speak. If u put garbage in, ur engine will not run as smoothly.
If u can justify the weight,to supplement ur protien, bring some hard cheese & a sausage!
Good luck, & keep drinking water!!!!!!
