The highest mountains on earth

It is a tragedy that K2 happens to be a little shorter than Mt Everest, because it is far more deserving to be the highest and one of the hardest mountains to conquer in the world.

It depends on the route, but generally K2 is more difficult because it is in a more remote region & so the logistics of getting to the mountain r much more severe. There is really no ''easy'' non-technical route on K2 -- not that Everest is not a tough climb but a relatively fit person with limited climbing experience can hire a guide service to climb the South Col route on it. That is not true for K2 -- only very well-trained climbers can attempt it.

There r also political difficulties to be overcome in climbing K2 since it is located in the frontier area of Pakistan whereas Everest is in the relatively safe Nepal Himalaya where there r government services & an established porter network.

K2 is considered more difficult overall, although Everest certainly has difficult routes.

K2 is definitly more difficult. It is slightly shorter but the routes are much more technical, especially now a days that you can practically get carried up Mount everest. Do not get me wrong, l live everest(even been there) but l think it is overcommercialized and K2 would be the better climb and tougher.
