Ok, so l am going to climb everest. l know this without a doubt. But why? Why do we wanna climb her? Is it stupid? The risks are sooo high. What is the motivation, for you?

It is a status symbol for people who have done it all.

When l was a rock climber and wilderness guide, l rock climbed because l wanted to prove to myself l could do it. It did not matter whether someone else had done it or not. What mattered was finding out what l was capable of doing. l often apply what l learned on a rock face to my life-if l could get over the fear and still move up that face, l can face anything off the rock, down on the ground, safe and sound.

Only a few people have done it. And not everyone can even say they know someone who has. l also plan on trying it 1 day. To those about to rock..we salute you.

Because it feels all right to - it is just one more success. l could say the same thing about swimming the channell.

It is the highest point on earth. That is it for me. l do not think it is too foolish. There is a lot more dangerous stuff out there you can try to do. K2 for one. With the right training and the right state of mind Everest is relatively safe in my opinion.

l think that u need to answer that for yourself.

George Mallory, in the 1920s, said about climbing the Big E, ''.if u cannot understand that there is something in man which responds to the challenge of this mountain & goes out to meet it, that the struggle is the struggle of life itself upward & forever upward, then u wo not see why we go. What we get from this adventure is just sheer joy. And joy is, after all the end of life. We do not live to eat & make money. We eat & make money to be able to enjoy life.
That is what life means & what life is for.''

Well my friend first of all good luck with that & take care of ur self up there..
about the question : some times ur feelings r too complicated to explain & u just can say that u r doing it because u feel like u want to do it. climbing everest or any mountain like that has very high risks so u gotta do it only when u r sure thats what u want. some people do it for fame , some people do it for money (very rare) but doing such things for such reasons is a waste of life & fooling ur self because most of the time u r alone up there.. u & u pushing ur way up & down the mount & struggling to survive . . . '' we do not live to eat & make money but we eat & make money to live'' this covers a part of the fact.... have fun
