my dads taking me this weekend, and l do not know anything about it.what should l do, not do, ect.also, what knots should l know?

Just relax and listen to your dad. Hopefully he knows what he is doing and will teach you all you want to know.

Why do not you ask him before you leave?

Just listen and do whatever yer dad says. The last thing you need are pointers from this forum. If you get scared, just focus on climbing and remember you are actually safe.

when rock climbing u need to focus on the fact that u r safe & just focus on making it to the top. Before u start look at the wall & decide the way ur going to make it up so that u r not worried & that u r set & focused. When u get on the wall try to keep all of the pressure & u r wieght focused in ur legs cause it will help u to keep ur arms from getting tired to quickly. While climbing try to stay close to the wall or the the rocks where ever u may be climbing cause it also helps to keep from getting worn out fast. Focus on ur goal trust yourself & have fun.

Since u will either be following his lead or top roping, u should know that u will never be able to fall more than a foot or two & that u wo not be hurt - this should allow u to focus on listening to his instruction & not getting freaked out.

Ask him if u can practice with the harness so that u know how to put it on & tie a ''figure 8 follow through'' knot - which is the only one u will need. He will be able to show you.
