Ok, he wo not be climbing in them...just thought l would get a faster more direct answer if l worded it like that...I've seen several guys (climbers) wear these particular carhartts when bouldering, (not trad)....l just wanna know what type they are because l like the way they look on guys...Going to buy a pair for someone for Christmas & he wo not be climbing in them...sorry for the confusion.

Is this just a fashion thing? As in he used to bring a certain pair of pants with him when he was climbing that you'd like to find? Or do you need pants for climbing? If you're going rock climbing, anything flexible that will preferrably go below the knee. If you're going hiking I'd advise gore tex pack lites or triple point ceramic. If you're getting some waterproof pants make sure they're made of nylon.

Carhartts are not really appropriate for climbing. They are a little bulky and do not allow freedome of movement. Loose-fitting (but not baggy) leightweight nylon or cotton pants (depending on the time of year) would be best.

Cabela is Has good deals on Carharts. Right now they are most likely having a sale too. l am a carpenter and those Carharts are a bomb proof pant!
